Did you know that Prescott was one of the highest zones (if not the highest) for irritating floating pollens?

This is excerpted from an April 2011 article, from the Prescott Courier:

The Prescott area has had a bad reputation among allergy sufferers because of its geographical location. Three different ecosystems converge in this part of the Central Arizona Highlands. Zeschke said Prescott sits at the juncture of those ecosystems, so the city and its surrounding locales have a high percentage of flora from each of them. Yavapai County is home to parts of the Sonoran Desert, Mohave Desert and Colorado Plateau along with the dominant Central Highlands. Pollen from these other ecosystems can reach Prescott.

The high number of allergens here, when coupled with some of those that are "notoriously vicious," such as juniper, create a perfect storm for sufferers. Juniper trees blossom in the spring. Then, in the fall, the corkscrew cedar plant - a misnamed bush with a white, fuzzy corkscrew on it - wreaks havoc after it blooms. But it doesn't end there. Prescott also has seven species of ragweed, a notorious allergen, which open up from April through November.
