What is Candida?
Candida albicans is a single celled yeast that is impossible to keep out of the body. Normally, it does no harm, because it is kept in check by beneficial bacteria (probiotics), like acidophilus, for instance. These bacteria, however, can be destroyed by the use of birth control pills, anti-biotics, cortisone drugs, poor diet and extreme stress. When this occurs, Candida can grow out of control.

Candida causes problems by releasing toxins into the bloodstream. These toxins trigger many discomforts, see "Appications" below

How can I control it?
For many years, the mainstays in controlling Candida have been anti-fungal drugs or herbs. But these agents have limitations. First, some may cause liver damage. Second, as they poison the yeast, the yeast releases even more toxins, which cause healing crises (Herxheimer reactions). And third, parasites can develop resistance to them, so that they lose their effect.

With the advent of digestive enzymes, a new tool against Candida has emerged. Since Candida's cell wall is made of cellulose, "cellulase" enzymes may "digest" it. As this digestion breaks down the yeast's cell wall, yeast dies.
Cellulase enzymes do not harm the liver, and are also safe in every other way. Further, because Candida cannot change the structure of it's cell wall, it cannot become immune to these enzymes. Finally, because the enzymes do not cause the release of toxins, you'll begin to feel better almost at once, and with no healing crisis whatever.

How Much Cellulase do I need?
Cellulase enzymes have been used to promote intestinal balance for about five years. In using various cellulase preparations, natural health practitioners found that about 200,000 CU's of cellulase per day provides the greatest benefit. CANDEX is the only product available that provides these levels.

How long should I use it?
Each capsule of Candex contains some 52,000 units of cellulase digesting activity. Because each person, however, has different amounts of yeast within them, the amount of digestive action required to obtain desired results varies. Thus, while some individuals may begin to feel more balanced in only a few days, others may need up to a month.

While "healing crises" are unlikely with CANDEX,they are possible.

Thus, those with severe imbalances might be best served by using one capsule daily for one week, two capsules (one in the morning and one at night) daily for a second week, three capsules daily for a third week, and four capsules beginning in the forth week, so that more gradual improvement occurs. Once you obtain your desired results, use one capsule, at bedtime, for maintenance.

Please note: This Candex formula used to contain probiotics (such as acidophilus bifidus) in its formulation, they reformulated and took this out as it was not as stable as they would like due to the need to refrigerate this ingredient. It is important to include a good quality probiotic with this program. There are several good brands on the market. Most probiotic formulas require refrigeration so we suggest purchasing from your local health food store. Some excellent brands include: UAS labs, Nutrition Now, and Pure Essence Labs now sells their own probiotic.

Do I need to change any dietary habits?
It is probably wisest to avoid foods that are high in sugars, as in soft drinks, desserts, candy, chocolate, sugar, honey, and sweet syrups; as well as other natural sweet foods such as fruit and fruit juices. If you wish to reintroduce them, we would suggest doing so only with an enzyme supplement that is rich in amylase, invertase, maltase and lactase. Also, there are several excellent books on the market or at your library that go into very specific diets to help prevent future problems and/or aid in alleviating Candida Albicans, along with your CANDEX program.
